Ever find yourself jumping between Gmail, Outlook, and way too many browser tabs just to track down an email or double-check a meeting time?
That digital chaos is something most of us have gotten used to, but it does not have to be that way.
Microsoft’s AI assistant, Copilot, is about to make things a whole lot simpler. With a new Windows update, Copilot can now connect directly to your Gmail and Google Calendar, along with your Microsoft accounts like Outlook and OneDrive.
If you decide to turn it on, Copilot can search both platforms to help you get things done faster.
Forgot when you last emailed a client? Just ask, “When did I last speak to Sarah?” Copilot can find it, even if that message was in Gmail.
Need to plan your week? It can check both your Outlook and Google calendars and help you avoid double-booking.
You are always in control. Copilot only accesses what you allow. If you want to keep your accounts separate, that is perfectly fine. Copilot will keep doing its thing with your Microsoft tools.
But if you do connect your Google account, you might find it is a real time saver. This is one of the first times Microsoft tech is working with Google’s, not just competing against it. If you use both, you know how helpful that can be.
Copilot is also growing as a creation tool. Ask it to turn your notes into a Word doc, build a PowerPoint, or even generate a PDF, all without opening extra apps.
Longer responses from Copilot now include an “export” button so you can instantly send its work into the format you need.
This update is now available to Windows Insiders (Microsoft’s early testers) through the Microsoft Store, and it should be rolling out more widely soon. Microsoft is clearly aiming for fewer apps, fewer steps, and more time spent on real work.
There is still one big question: How much do you trust your AI assistant?
Linking Copilot to Gmail and your calendar does mean giving it access to personal data. Microsoft is clear that you stay in charge and your info is not used to train the AI, but it is a good idea to consider your comfort level before connecting.
For many people, the convenience will be worth it. It is great to see your tools finally working together, making your day a little easier.
